This Thursday the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and the manufacturer Luxo Workspaces determined recall about 85,000 AV carts, after the deaths of three children were linked to these products.
The decision was made based on the tipping risk of AV carts, which are a kind of rack, made of metal and plastic on wheels, that according to the manufacturing company can tip over when loaded with very heavy objects.
The recall statement reiterates that “all consumers, including individuals, schools, day care centers, and places of worship, among others, who use these carts to transport audio or video equipment where children may be present should be aware of the danger that cars represent when they are loaded with a TV”, he highlights.
The Commission advised people using the carts to remove them immediately and contact the manufacturer for repair of products that are unstable. According to the report the recall involves three models of AV carts: the WT42 “Tuffy” and LP-DUO/TPDUOEQ plastic carts, as well as the W42/AVJ42/SS-AVJ42 metal cart.
The incidents occurred between 2006 and 2016 respectively, and the three deaths were related to AV carts, and it was also learned during the investigation that a fourth child had also been seriously injured.
