The chain of donut shops Krispy Kreme released today, Monday, August 29, a special edition donut to mark NASA’s launch of Artemis Iwhich consists of a test flight of a powerful rocket without a crew.
Through a press release the company announced the launch of the “Artemis Moon Doughnut” which consists of a donut filled with cheesecake cream flavor, covered in cookies ‘n cream icing, with cookie pieces around it.
The new presentation will be available at participating stores nationwide for today only unless NASA reschedules the space launch, the report said. Due to failure of one of the engines during the filling of the rocket with propellants, the mission was rescheduled for Friday, September 2.
Through his Twitter account, Krispy Kreme said it would continue selling its donut todayalthough he did not specify whether the sale will continue until the rescheduled day of the rocket launch.

Krispy Kreme global brand director Dave Skena previously said that the Artemis mission, “It is a proud moment, and we are in awe of the amazing Americans behind the world’s most powerful rocket. So we created these delicious donuts to enjoy while you watch the launch.”
Artemis I is the first in a series of NASA missions that will enable deeper space exploration, including landing the first woman and the first person of color on the moon.
NASA’s goal is to establish a long-term presence on the moon and then send the first astronauts to Mars.
The spacecraft is expected to stay longer than any astronaut craft without docking at a space station. “But our Artemis Moon Donut will only be available on Monday, so start the countdown and don’t miss out!” said Skena.
Krispy Kreme’s new launch comes just days after it released a series of donut-shaped cookies for dogs on the occasion of National Dog Day.
The news also comes after the company announced the closure of 10 stores in the US because they do not fit with its current evolving model in the country that sees the stores function as factories that ship donuts daily to various positions of advanced.
